3 ways to use Zen Sub Sites

A directory that keeps itself up to date


In subsite mode Zen Sub Sites lists the subsites of the site it is on, so a new department appears the moment its site is created.

In list mode it shows any list of links with the columns you choose.

  1. Download the package

    Download the free .zip for Zen Sub Sites. It holds the .sppkg package and an install guide.

  2. Add it to your App Catalog

    A SharePoint administrator uploads the package to the tenant App Catalog, ticks Make this solution available to all sites and selects Deploy.

  3. Add it to a page

    Edit a page, choose the plus sign and find the web part in the Zen Systems group.

  4. Create the list

    Open the web part settings and choose Create the list on this site. It adds the columns shown below and sample items.

Before you install

Does it show sites from the whole tenant?

No, only subsites of the current site, or the list you choose. For a tenant-wide site directory, contact us.

Is this web part really free?

Yes. Zen Systems provides Zen Sub Sites free of charge to download and use in your organisation's SharePoint Online tenant.

Does it work with SharePoint Server on-premises?

It is built for SharePoint Online in Microsoft 365. We also build web parts for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, 2019 and 2016; contact us if you need an on-premises version.

Can you customise it for our intranet?

Yes. We can adapt the design, add fields or build a fully custom version as part of our SPFx development service.
